Last day at Wirecard

Image
Today is officially my last day at Wirecard. My last day post in LinkedIn is here . My team gifted me Amazon gift cards and a football. I invested the gift cards in buying a business laptop, and the signed football triggered this message for my team. I knew that some of my team members could be sad hearing my resignation news but I didn't expect any of them to actually cry. That day is just etched on my memory. I have learnt an important lesson in my life.

When AI-powered robots take over the world

Image
AI-powered robots (AIPRs) will be able to carry out medical surgeries, build bridges, buildings and roads, argue in a court of law, drive cars, trucks, and other vehicles, fly planes, code software, sell goods in a store, serve in a restaurant, manufacture goods, protect borders, fight wars, maintain law and order, write books, paint, sing, dance, act, travel, forecast weather, clean toilets, fix drainage, shoot movies, win debates, play sports, cook food, deliver pizzas, say jokes, and do everything else that we currently consider as a job. It looks like it is inevitable that we will reach a situation where AIPRs will do all of these more efficiently than humans. It looks like it's no longer a question of "if" but "when".   Some of the things that AIPRs cannot do, for example, are to feel, meditate, pray, bless, enjoy, etc. They can act as if they feel but actually they won't feel. They will not have any morality. Without morality they can be highly destruc...

What is self-empowerment?

Image
But seriously the power of power nap is simply amazing. It's actually powerful. Try it to know it. In my case a power nap shouldn't exceed 20 minutes, I don't know if it is different for different people. The way I do it is to start a timer in my mobile phone with 15 minutes duration and keep the mobile away at a distance which will prompt me to walk to the mobile. After a power nap, for mind feels it like a fresh day.  Note : Was packaged into a joke to create awareness.

Why we don't ask enough questions?

quite true, isn't it? :-)

Problem Solving

Image
I think if we follow this simple approach of problem solving we may actually solve the problems. In these tough times I needed something that I could use for myself and not get into a state where I am not as productive as I can be.  I think one person alone cannot solve all of the problems. Not everyone will have the energy, time and the ideas to solve the problems. If some of us can at least solve one problem, that will make a difference for someone, that would be amazing. And all those who cannot solve any of the problems, if they can just take care of themselves and not create new problems that would in itself be a great thing.

A Boy Was Crying

Image
A Boy Was Crying Two boys were playing on the street and met with an accident as a car hit them and sped away. The boy who lost his left ring finger in the accident was crying out loud in severe pain, blood pouring out profusely. He screamed at the other boy "I'm crying in pain, lying flat on the ground, and you are not even lifting me up, what kind of friend are you?" and turned to his friend to find his friend had lost both his hands in that accident and was barely conscious. Moral : It's easy to judge others wrongly based on our own difficult situation, it takes sincere effort and unbiased mind to understand other's situation. The one who cries the loudest is not necessarily the one who has lost the most. No cry doesn’t mean there is no pain. Now tell this short story to kids (without giving any hint about the moral/s) and ask them what is the moral of the story. Give it a try. You will be surprised to hear them say Don't play on the street or words to tha...

LinkedIn spread idea

Image
Today I couldn't resist but share with LinkedIn to include a "spread" button. I observed that a lot of people are commenting on LinkedIn posts "commenting for better reach", "commenting for wider reach", "commenting for network" and some people end up "Liking" (even though they don't want to) the posts just to ensure that their network sees their post. My comment is here . I hope LinkedIn considers my suggestion or comes up with something better.

One at a time

Image
If you try to solve all problems at the same time you will end up not solving as many as you would have by focusing on solving one problem at a time. If you try to be everywhere, you will end up being nowhere. If you try to be everything, you will end up being nothing. If you try to fit into everyone's right way, you will end up being in no one's right way.

Less is not more

Image
Nowadays it has become trendy for people to say "less is more", for example when you create a presentation, you may hear someone giving you a feedback "less is more". Sorry, less is not more, less can never be more, less is less, we can say less is enough, less is sufficient, less is good enough, less should be OK, etc but less cannot be more, if less is more then what is less? So let's stop using these illogical statements, I don't know who comes up with these and then how people take it up without challenging it.

60 push-ups in 50

After I watched the video my heart said "I should focus on quality and not quantity", and then my mind said "Yes, next time I should use a better camera :-)"

I am a nobody

Image
I am a nobody  to tell anybody  everybody is wrong  or somebody is right Anybody could be right  or everybody could be wrong Everybody cannot be right then nobody would fight If everybody is wrong  then maybe this nobody is actually a somebody So m aybe I am a nobody could actually be somebody or sometimes anybody To be realized by everybody else someday somebody inspired by anybody  explain this to everybody I was surprised to see the level of people's addiction to alcohol (see this or this  to understand what I mean) and then wanted to comment on that, then I felt who am I to tell what is wrong or right and then the thoughts just increased.

The BIKON Day

Image
3rd May 2018, exactly 2 years ago, was a special day. It was the day of PublicBI BIKON (Online Business Intelligence conference), and AFAIK the first ever international online BI conference. On 22nd Feb 2018 I had conceived the idea to organize a BI conference and within 2+ months managed to organize a successful event thanks to many people (speakers, sponsors, etc). First among those people is my wife, who not only had to go through the pain of taking full responsibility of our home and our kid but also had to contribute time and energy to the organizing of the conference to support the struggling me. Among us we spent close to 300 hours in organizing the event, from contacting and following up with at least 200 potential sponsors, shortlisting speakers, rehearsals, tool selection, etc. In some other post I will cover more details of the experience of organizing the event. Today, I remember how we celebrated in the late evening after the event was over. Most of you won't believe ...

Don't see what you imagined to see

Image
In whatever you are seeing, don't see what you had imagined to see. Without any bias see whatever is there to see in whichever way it exists . Once you have seen the way it exists then analyze it in every possible angle, now if you want to look at it in a biased way, look at it from all possible biases. That's how clarity comes.

Prediction : Squat toilets will over take sitting toilets

Image
Here is a bold prediction; In the next few years, squat toilets will over take sitting toilets. Some research will be out which will provide evidence that squatting is the best posture for the purpose and that it has a lot of health benefits and that sitting toilets is mainly for people with disabilities.

My biggest miss

Image
Even though my parents, teachers and others were all getting annoyed by my questions, my biggest miss till date is that I didn't ask as many questions as I should have. I should have continued my questioning habit till I found answers. I have intentionally used the word miss instead of regret as regret attaches a sense of disappointment and sadness to the current state, whereas I am not sad but I feel I missed the opportunity.  What is your biggest miss till date?

Orange seed and Mango tree

A farmer was obsessed with mangoes. He wanted to have acres and acres of his land filled with the best mango trees. He went looking for seeds that would give the best mangoes. A fraudster, who learnt about this farmer's quest, met the farmer and convinced him that God had sent him to meet the farmer to share the truck loads of seeds, given by God himself, that would produce the best mangoes. And then he took an advance amount. On the day of delivery the fraudster came with truck loads of orange seeds. Seeing those orange seeds instead of mango seeds, the farmer was unpleasantly surprised and sad, and when he questioned, the fraudster again convinced the farmer that these are the best mango seeds that look like orange seeds and he requested the farmer to trust him and that he should with full belief without an ounce of doubt plant those seeds. He added, after 6 years the trees, even though will look like orange trees, will start producing mango fruits. At that point the farmer was ...

Datapathy - Feelings of data?

Image
Usually when it is technical content I post it in akvkbi.com and when it is emotions I post it here in akclarity.com  . But, this time it is a combination of two; it's data and an imagination of what data would feel about BI (Business Intelligence), so posting it in both the blogs. For those who understand data and BI relationship this should resonate and for others just think that this is between a married couple. And if it was between a married couple it would be  I am your dutiful datapati You are my beautiful BI The kind of meanings you find in me Not possible even with AI Note : Pati as in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pati_(title) Made the pdf version available so that you can download and share and print it out easily.

If we genuinely want to do something, it will happen

Image
Here's a proof based on own experience that if we genuinely want to do something, it will happen. One day during this lockdown, I started thinking what am I doing for the doctor community? This community is risking their lives to save others' life. Is there something that I can do? The very next day a common friend emailed that a Munich-based doctor, who is working on the COVID floor treating patients is interested in dashboarding COVID-19 data about Munich. Just a few days before that email arrived I had completed the world dashboard at country level and wanted to focus back on my other work. But, I didn't want to let go of this opportunity to support a doctor, I took it up. Used the world dashboard as the base template and totally customized the dashboard with a lot of inputs from the doctor and now the dashboard is live for the doctor and his community to use. The dashboard not only has Munich data but also covers whole of Germany at city and state level with interesti...

Simplest explanation of religion using maths

Image
In a classroom a teacher asked the students, if 2x+y=5, what is x?  [side note : before you read further, please just write down your answer for x in a paper or digital note - please no cheating] One of the students in the first row who always wanted to be first in answering questions, shouted 2, x is 2. When the teacher asked him to explain, the boy explained, if we assume y=1, then x=2 because 2*2+1 gives us 5. He was very proud that he was the first one to find the answer. A group of students applauded him for his intelligence and without any further thinking became his followers.  Another boy who always had his differences with the first-row boy, gave the question a little more thought than others, then stood up and said, sir if we assume y=3 then x=1 then 2*1+3 =5. So x=1. He was very proud of his answer because he said everything starts from 1. Another group of students applauded him for finding an alternate answer and for his brilliant line "everything s...

In life there is no failure

Image
In life there is no failure. The concept of failure is applicable only when objective is known. In life you believe there is an objective, but you actually don't know what is the objective. When you don't know what is the objective how can there be a failure? In reality there is only journey (experience).

Soldiers

Image
Did you notice that soldiers have "diers"? They are always ready to die for the sake of the country. What a befitting name! Respect soldiers.

Uneducated better than false educated

Image
I believe that it is better to remain uneducated than having a false sense of being educated. We are not even able to answer some of the most fundamental questions about life after being educated for over 18 to 22 years. As we are already the so-called educated, the best we can do now is to be aware that there is a lot to know and what we know is nothing compared to what is there to know.

Spiritual but not religious

Image
Why are more and more people moving away from religions? Why is there an inclination to be spiritual but not be associated with any religion?  Let me explain with a short story. Several hundred years ago a man in a village found a human-size mirror when he had been to a far away village. The mirror was very clean, high quality, and he could see his full reflection in the mirror so well that even minute details of him could be seen. He brought it home and kept it for himself. Then he realized that as no one else in the village had a mirror he should share it with others, but, he thought, if he would break it into pieces it wouldn't be as useful as it is now. So he decided to keep the full-size mirror in a public place where people could come and have a look at themselves. All villagers thanked him for this and everyone used it for many years. One day one of the villagers out of his reverence hung a flower garland on the mirror. Other villagers felt that they are not doing...
