Dandi March - The Famous Salt March

Marche sel

Wrote a short poem about Dandi March for my son (7 years old).

The famous Salt March led by Mahatma Gandhi
From Sabarmati Ashram to coastal village Dandi
Less than hundred marchers at the start
Joined by thousands who did their part

Walked miles daytime, open field resting at night
Was Poor man's battle of right against might
Made salt, broke salt law of British Raj
Protested, we need Purna Swaraj

Shook foundations of British Empire
United people, now freedom they could aspire
Triggered nationwide Civil Disobedience movement
And strive continued for India's own Government
